The City: Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. It’s a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. Merry Christmas!

Canada is a very multi-cultural country with many religions, but it is safe to say that everyone enjoys the colours and sounds of Christmas. Many people take December 24 off, then Christmas Day and Boxing Day are formal holidays when people spend time with their families. Yes, we have Santa, Rudolph, and strings of lights everywhere for people to enjoy – and plenty of food.

Canada is a very fortunate country with its better than average incomes and a good work-life balance so residents can take the time to really enjoy the season!

Which are the most popular countries for moving abroad?

Canada is Tops! “The most popular destination for people looking to move overseas was Canada, which topped the wish-lists of 29 other countries” according to a study done by Remitly.com

“Featuring prominently in the Global Peace Index as one of the safest places to live, and boasting low unemployment rates alongside a high amount of immigration options, it’s arguably no surprise that Canada is head and shoulders above the rest of the world. Add to that its friendly locals and beautiful scenery and it’s little surprise that the country is so appealing.”

Following Canada in popularity were Japan, Spain, Germany, Qatar, Australia, Switzerland, Portugal, USA and the UK.

Practice Medicine in Alberta

Canada

Alberta has experienced a relatively high rate of growth in recent years, due in large part to its economy. Between 2003 and 2004, the province saw high birthrates (on par with some larger provinces such as British Columbia), relatively high immigration, and a high rate of interprovincial migration when compared to other provinces. Approximately 81% of the population live in urban areas and only about 19% live in rural areas. The total population is currently 4,600,000 or about 11% of Canada’s population.

Alberta is exceptionally beautiful. You will find fertile plains with abundant farms. To the west are the Rocky Mountains with their snowy peaks as host to Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise, one of over 600 freshwater lakes in the province.

A comparison of size puts Alberta at seven times the size of the UK. Those that move from the UK to Alberta are astonished at the open spaces. One gentleman remarked he pulls a long motorhome on vacation and he has no trouble navigating the roads or finding an overnight space to stay in one of many parks. Another remarked, it can get very cold in the winter, but the rest of the year is amazing.

MCC continues, “the Registration Committee may direct the Registrar to issue a certificate of registration authorizing independent practice to applicants who hold the LMCC and are otherwise qualified for an Independent Practice Certificate of Registration and satisfy the non- exemptible requirements set out in Section 2(1) of Ontario Regulation 865/93.”
