Featured Opportunity
We have a very unique opportunity coming up on Vancouver Island, British Columbia! We have a group of clinics participating in a new program. Family doctors will work in a clinic for three weeks and the fourth week they will work in a local hospital as Doctor of the Day!
There will be no overhead contribution and a guaranteed $23,000 CDN or 13,000 GDP per month to start. When you are ready, you can choose to go onto the better paying LFP compensation model without a guarantee.
This community is really beautiful with the ocean nearby for water sports and whale watching, many parks for hiking, and terrific running routes. Yet, it is only 20 minutes to the capital of British Columbia offering every urban feature you can imagine.
Positions are available anytime from now until October 2025.
Incentives are being offered.

MCCQE1 Changes
The Medical Council of Canada which creates the MCCQE1 exam has major changes coming in 2025. The exam will be 100% multiple choice questions and will be much shorter at 5 hours in length. You will still register for the exam through your physiciansapply.ca account. Note that not all provinces still require the MCCQE1 exam to be written.
The next exam dates are not until April 9 – May 21, 2025 with the exam results being released around August 21 , 2025 – twelve weeks later! You will still need to complete a provincial college licensing requirements, after you have your results, so your licence may not be approved until mid-September or a little later. So, for those provinces requiring you to write the MCCQE1 exam it will be about a year from now before you will be practicing in Canada.
Alberta’s New Immigration Strategy
Alberta, a Canadian province, introduced a new permanent residency scoring system on September 30, 2024, targeting individuals seeking to apply for the province’s immigration streams. The move is part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) which aims to streamline the selection process for skilled workers.
You can apply for nomination to get permanent residence in Alberta through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) Dedicated Health Care Pathway if you have an Alberta job offer in an eligible health care occupation.
You must apply using the express entry option if you have an Alberta job offer in an eligible health care occupation and meet the eligibility requirements.
If you are approved under Alberta Express Entry Stream – Dedicated Health Care Pathway, you will apply for permanent residence using the Government of Canada Express Entry process and are subject to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) processing times.
When you are a client of Canada Medical Careers, our immigration law experts will assist you to choose the best pathway and complete the application for you.

College of Family Physicians of Canada
The College of Family Physicians of Canada is the recognized licensing authority for family physicians in Canada. Those physicians coming from the UK, Ireland, Australia, or the USA will usually not have to write the examination required to practice as a General Practitioner in Canada. Verification of your MRCGP, MICGP, FRACGP, FACRRM, or DABFM will be required. For more information on this certification visit CFPC.ca and check out the Education and Professional Development section. Members in good standing will use the CCFP certification.
